Regulatory pilot projects are real-life experiments put in place by the regulator to allow and support the trial of innovative solutions on a local basis (CEER, 2021) (EUniversal, 2022). They usually involve network operators and are approved on a case-by-case basis by the regulator who strictly defines the scope of the experimentation, the application procedure and the derogations that may be granted.
